Ankur Khosla, MD, MBA, MS, is a physician at AK Pain & Spine Center who specializes in pain management in Houston. He diagnoses and treats chronic and acute pain with the goal of restoring his patients’ functionality, so they can get back to enjoying their active lifestyle.

Dr. Khosla began his higher education with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. He then attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where he earned a Master of Business Administration in Health Organizational Management, a Master of Science in Health Services Research and Management, and his Doctor of Medicine. Next, he completed a dual residency in anesthesiology and internal medicine at the University of Texas (UT) Medical School in Houston, where he was named Resident of the Year and also worked as the Chief Resident.

Following his residency, Dr. Khosla completed a fellowship in interventional and chronic pain at UT’s branch in Galveston. This fellowship gave him the training he needed to practice pain management in Houston and treat back pain, cancer pain, and musculoskeletal injuries. His hospital affiliations include Memorial Hermann and St Luke’s Hospital, both in The Woodlands. He has a particular interest in restoring his patients’ quality of life, enabling them to live pain-free. Given his vast experience, he has become the #1 provider for spinal cord stimulation in the region and has had the opportunity to offer ground-breaking treatments for pain management in Houston.

Dr. Khosla is a member of the Society of Physician Entrepreneurs, Texas Pain Society, North American Neuromodulation Society, and the American Academy of Pain Medicine.

Tara Draehn, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner at AK Pain, Spine, & Neuropathy in The Woodlands, Texas. She is an experienced advanced provider skilled in acute and chronic pain, with special interests in spine biomechanics, neuromodulation, and minimally invasive interventional spine solutions. She collaborates closely with patients to create individualized plans so that optimal lifestyles and outcomes are obtained. Tara has a passion for treating patients dealing with multiple types of pain, including neck and back pain, shoulder and knee pain, chronic migraines, and more. Her professional experiences to these solutions have led her to rank as the top practice in the region. She is a strong medical professional who serves as faculty for several national Advanced Practice Provider educational programs.

Tara grew up in Brenham, Texas and it was there she started her higher education at Blinn Junior College. She transferred to The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, graduating with honors. After practicing for more than 15 years as a Registered Nurse, Tara decided to further her career and graduated from Houston Baptist University with a Master of Science degree in Nursing.

During her free time, Tara enjoys spending time with her husband, Keith. Her favorite things to do include spending time with family and friends, traveling, and paddleboarding on Lake Woodlands. Tara is especially proud of their two sons, Dylan and Dawson, and absolutely adores her grand puppy, Goose. She is also a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience.

Gillianne Cross, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is a dedicated and board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner at AK Pain & Spine Center. Her commitment to providing exceptional patient care is evident through her focus on delivering high-quality treatment with compassion. Gillianne’s primary objective at AK Pain & Spine is to ensure that patients receive swift and effective interventions to alleviate and overcome their pain.

Originally from Scott, Louisiana, Gillianne spent her formative years in Kingwood, Texas. Following an honorable 6-year service in the United States Navy Nuclear Power Propulsion Program as an Electrician’s Mate, she transitioned to a career in nursing. Gillianne pursued her nursing education at the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston. Over the course of 11 years, she gained diverse experiences and honed her skills in various medical settings, including the Cardiovascular Operating Room, Neonatal ICU, and multiple specialty clinics. Her desire for a more influential role in patient care led her to attain a Master’s in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University, graduating with honors.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Gillianne finds joy in spending time with her husband and three wonderful children. She is an active member of esteemed professional organizations, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, North Harris Montgomery Advanced Practice Nurse Society, and the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience. Gillianne Cross takes pride in standing as a shining example of a healthcare professional who prioritizes the health and comfort of her patients, making her an invaluable asset to the AK Pain & Spine team.
